Reading the Market: Data, Prices and Sourcing Shifts in Textiles and Apparel

The textile and apparel industry has no shortage of opinions. What it often lacks is timely, organized, and useful market data. Mills, brands, retailers, and sourcing teams are trying to make decisions in a market shaped by inflation, tariffs, consumer uncertainty, freight volatility, fiber price movement, compliance risk, and shifting country competitiveness. Yet many companies still rely on scattered data, supplier anecdotes, and outdated assumptions. This breakfast workshop would give attendees a practical guide to the statistical resources available to help identify market trends, price movement, sourcing shifts, and business risk. The session would look at the main sources of market intelligence, including import statistics, fiber and yarn price indicators, retail sales data, consumer spending measures, inflation data, production trends, and trade policy information.
